While all of the instruments including the battery are 16th note based the vibraphone (melody) is keeping a quarter note based melody aiding everyone else to anchor to the melody while understanding the relationship of their syncopated rhythms against the melody quarter note pulse.
This piece can also be used in combination with other tunes to form a well balanced concert that display a well rounded set of rudimental and concert percussion ensemble skills.
